History

    All started in 1978,Joseph Thomas,who representant the FCMQ for our region and was part of the Arvida snowmobile club,contacted M.GuyHarvey of Lac-Kénogami club to open a discussion as to unite Arvida an Lac-Kénogami clubs to form only one club in Jonquière section.As the discussion took place,everyone seemed to be working in th esame rest of Quebec.
At this moment ,a move was made as to join in the fusion three other clubs,Grand Brûlé,Laterrière and Cap Ouest La Baie.The idea went snoballing but at the september  18,1978 meeting,Cap Ouest decided not to join in the fusion,but a door was left opened if they chose to change their decision.As the  1978-1979 snowmobile season was too close ,the fusion was not possible for the four remaning clubs,but discussions remained opened as to the best way to operated the "as to be fusioned"club for the next season.May 1979 arrived,a meeting was organised whit Me Jean-Yves Tremblay,attorney,as to prepare rules and regulations for the new club.Following this meeting ,letters went out to the Quebec government as to patent the new club which was finally registred on 29 june 1979 as "Club de Motoneigistes du Saguenay inc.".
After th efirst year of the operation,th eclub had a gros income of $37 498.00. After 30 years, the club has a budget of $450 000.00 .The first year administration for 1979-1980 was ruled by;

President
;                   Guy Harvey
Vice-president;
Claude Murdock                    (sect.Jonquière)
Vice-president;              Jean-Marie DeLa sablonnière  (sect.Arvida)
Vice-president;               Laurier Girard                   (sect.Laterrière)
Secretaire;
                   Nicole Belley
Tresorier;                     Lucien Chouinard
Conseiller technique;     Joseph Thomas
Directeur;                    Vianney Tremblay              (sect.Jonquière)
Directeur;                         André Veilleux                       (sect.Arvida)
Directeur;                     Ghislain Pedneault         (sect.Laterrière)

Sadly,four of the above have since passed away;Mr Claude Murdock,Mr Lucien Chouinard , Mr Vianey Tremblay & Laurier Girard. Their efforts for the club will never forgotten.
 Finaly,it’s on september 19,1984 that the structure of the club was completed. Cap Ouest was proposed by Jean-Eudes Tremblay,sadly now passed ,away seconded by Jules Tremblay to join the existing structure.This completed the loop.
 Hoping this littel return to the past will revive good memories.

A special thanks to all the benevoles who give their precious time as to keep the club on the roll.These people are a very important link in keeping everything going and surviving.

P.S. In choosing the name "Club de Motoneigistes du Saguenay Inc." the team were probably seeing in the futur since now the fusionned towns,about 20 years later,proudly wear the name of "Saguenay". Coincidence!!!!
